Asteroid Workshop: A Rocky Adventure (AVERO)

With a €5,874 grant from the IAU-OAD we delivered astronomy material (900 kits) to students and trained teachers from less-favoured Chilean public schools to run an asteroid workshop themselves.

• Kits built with OAD funding plus material from ALMA and ESO.
• Handbook, workshop video and all materials published online for other teachers.

Eclipse 2020 with SERNATUR Los Ríos

Sponsored by the Chilean national tourism service and supported by the science ministry, we prepared an information guide and three videos:

Divulgacon

Divulgacon, organised by the Museo Interactivo Mirador (MIM), brought together edutubers and scientists. Star Tres talked about women in science; more than 11,000 people have watched the YouTube broadcast.

Throughout February we shared short biographies of Latin American women scientists on social media (#FebreroDeCientificas) to make women in science more visible.

El Mercurio and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez selected us among the “100 Líderes Jóvenes 2018” for our work in astronomy outreach.

“Mujeres Bacanas”, which makes visible the legacy of women through their lives and work, featured our trajectory as Star Tres on their website.

Planetario de Santiago

Science collaborators on the script of “Bot y Lu: El escape del Agujero Negro”, the first production made for the Planetario de Santiago.

Mujeres Chilenas en Ciencia

Took part in the video “Granito de Arena” for the “Mujeres Chilenas en Ciencias” contest, where the team received an honourable mention.
